Greetings to all dharma practitioners! I was exposed to Guan Yin Citta in January 2015. Throughout this year, I have been blessed and protected by Guan Yin Bodhisattva. I would like to share with all of you the experience I had in the past ten days.
My step mother had to stay in the local hospital as she didn’t feel well. She was then diagnosed with liver cancer and we sent her to another hospital for further medical check. On the morning of November 24, I dreamt about Guan Yin Bodhisattva standing in front of my step mother and I heard a voice saying “as long as you introduce Buddhism to her after she is discharged from hospital, her life could be saved.” After I woke up, I was quite worried about her situation. At the time, the medical result was not released yet. Not long after I went to work, my father called and told me that my step mother was diagnosed with liver cancer and the surgery would be conducted on the next day. I was very worried and asked a few Buddhist practitioners for their opinion and they all suggested that I follow the three “golden practices” of Guan Yin Citta—reciting sutras, releasing lives from captivity, and making vows. However, time was too limited for me to do much, and my step mother hadn’t believed in Buddhism yet!
One of the Buddhist practitioners suggested that I make a vow first according to Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s instructions in my dream. I immediately went home during the lunch break and offered incense to Guan Yin Bodhisattva, praying for her help. I made a vow to try my best to introduce Buddhism to my step mother so that she could repay her karmic debts by reciting scriptures. Then I offered 4 Little Houses to her karmic creditors. In the afternoon, I called my father and I was told that as the medical result was not released yet, the surgery had to be cancelled for now. I thought maybe it was a turning point with the blessing of Guan Yin Bodhisattva.
After I got back from work in the evening, I again offered incense to Guan Yin Bodhisattva and repeated my vow. I said to Guan Yin Bodhisattva that even my step mother didn’t treat me very well before, I was willing to forgive her and I hoped that Guan Yin Bodhisattva could save her. On the next morning, my father told me that my step mother’s tumour was benign, therefore there was no need for a surgery. The tumour could be removed by giving injections. I immediately extended my gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva and I would keep my promise of trying everything I can to introduce Buddhism to my step mother.
I would like to share another inspirational story. I went for a walk after dinner yesterday. Not long after I left home, I returned as I had stomach ache. It was a mild pain at the beginning but it got more and more severe. My husband said he would drive me to the hospital but I refused because I believed that it shouldn’t be a big issue. I lay in my bed and prayed to Guan Yin Bodhisattva for helping me to relieve the pain. Then I started to recite the Great Compassionate Mantra. The pain was easing and I felt asleep as I was reciting the scripture. It was over 11pm after I woke up and I didn’t feel pain anymore. I was very thankful towards Guan Yin Bodhisattva as my stomach ache was gone without taking any medication.
Guan Yin Bodhisattva is indeed around us. As long as we practise Buddhism with sincerity and perseverance, Guan Yin Bodhisattva would help us be free from suffering and lead us to happiness. I make a vow that I would be more dedicated in my practice and be committed to Buddhism for the rest of my life. My deepest gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva, to Master Lu, and to all Buddhist practitioners!
