The following case is extracted from “International Buddhist Conference with Master Lu” Grand Dharma Function in Malaysia on 28 August 2011. Master Lu performed Totem Enquiries live on stage and answered questions from the audience to help them overcome difficulties in their health, career, and everyday issues.

When a person is asking Master Lu to perform Totem Enquiry, if a living person is being enquired, then the year of birth and the Chinese zodiac sign of that person should be stated. If a deceased person is being enquired, then the full name of the deceased and the exact written characters of the name should be stated.

Enquirer: Respected Master Lu. Hi. I would like you to take a look at my daughter, born in 2002, year of the Horse. I would like to ask if she needs any adjustments for her Daily Recitation?

Master Lu: 2002, year of the Horse.

Enquirer: Yes yes yes.

Master Lu: Oh, I remembered something, you go and tell that lady who was just here, tell her that, when she makes full prostrations she should tell her mother-in-law and the foreign spirit on her body that, “In total, I will recite 850 Little Houses for you.” You have to say that. Also, it would be best if you can set a timeframe. Do you understand? Otherwise, the mother-in-law would be upset, and become very unhappy. Do you want to say this to her? Alright. I’m sorry. You may continue.

Enquirer: She’s now reciting the Great Compassion Mantra (Ta Pei Chou), Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching), Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Chou), and Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Chieh Chieh Chou).

Master Lu: Great Compassion Mantra (Ta Pei Chou), Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching), Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Chou). How many times does she recite for the Great Compassion Mantra (Ta Pei Chou) per day?

Enquirer: 3 times.

Master Lu: That’s not enough.

Enquirer: Increase it then.

Master Lu: Increase it to 7 times.

Enquirer: Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching) 9 times.

Master Lu: Good.

Enquirer: Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Chou) 21 times.

Master Lu: Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Chou) 21 times. Good.

Enquirer: Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Chieh Chieh Chou) 21 times.

Master Lu: Good.

Enquirer: Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Ta Chan Hui Wen) once.

Master Lu: Hm. Good.

Enquirer: Anything else she should include in her Daily Recitation?

Master Lu: Ah. Tell her… She’s your daughter, right? Tell her to recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Chieh Chieh Chou).

Enquirer: Oh, she’s already reciting it.

Master Lu: She’s reciting it?

Enquirer: 21 times per day.

Master Lu: Do you know why? You have some minor negative karmic ties with her.

Enquirer: I know, she came into my life to collect karmic debts.

Master Lu: Hm. You see? The mother answered so fast. She came into her life to collect karmic debts.

Enquirer: You… I’ve already had the Totem enquired.

Master Lu: Ah. Do you understand?

Enquirer: You know, her nose, she has severe allergic rhinitis, and she constantly has episodes. Last time, you said that there was a foreign spirit on her legs.

Master Lu: Alright. How old is she now?

Enquirer: 10 years old.

Master Lu: You should continue to recite Little Houses for her. This problem of hers, if you continue to recite Little Houses, it won’t take long. About a year and half, and it will be completely cured. This won’t take much at all. Now I see that, the area where she has allergic rhinitis, there is some minor blockage. Looks like there are some tiny black spots. Maybe she is… Right now what I sense is that when you were pregnant, you ate a lot of live fish.

Enquirer: Yes yes yes yes, and a lot of live prawns.

Master Lu: Uh. You made those prawns suffocate and those prawns are now making your daughter suffocate as well.

Enquirer: Yes yes. I know I ate a lot.

Master Lu: Do you understand? Alright.

Enquirer: I have another question, it’s about my son. So my mother-in-law makes a living by catching river snails and I’m already… my son was born in 2010.

Master Lu: What? Your mother-In-law was giving birth to river snails?

Enquirer: She catches river snails. My son has dementia, there was one time…

Master Lu: Oh, ah-yo. Oh! Yes yes yes yes yes. You came to see me last time.

Enquirer: Yes yes yes yes yes.

Master Lu: Oh, she came to Sydney last time so I performed Totem Enquiry on the spot for her and I said, her husband has a karmic obstacle due to negative karmas, that’s why her child has dementia. In the end, I said that, ah, it looks like you have performed some sort of killings. I performed Totem Enquiry and I saw that. Then she said her mother-in-law catches river snails. So she catches river snails. Do you know what river snails are? It’s not called river snails.

Enquirer: We call it river snails. Winkle.

Master Lu: Oh. Win…winkle.

Enquirer: My son was born in 2010, year of the Ox. As of now, I have already recited more than 1000 Little Houses for him.

Master Lu: Oh, he has improved.

Enquirer: Yes, he has improved a lot.

Master Lu: He has improved a lot!

Enquirer: Yes, he has really improved a lot.

Master Lu: Thanks to Guan Yin Bodhisattva.

Enquirer: Thank you, Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Thank you, Master Lu.

Master Lu: You see? Terminal illnesses can’t be cured by medical doctors. Ah, ha ha ha ha. Very good.

Enquirer: How many more should I recite for him?

Master Lu: Ah.

Enquirer: How many more Little Houses should I recite for him?

Master Lu: Ah, you will see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Enquirer: Deepest gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva.

Master Lu: 870 Little Houses.

Enquirer: Thank you, Master. I will continue to work hard.

Master Lu: Alright?

Enquirer: Okay. Thank you, Master.

Master Lu: Let me tell you, your husband needs to improve himself.

Enquirer: Yes. Every day, he’s reciting with even more determination than me.

Master Lu: Ah, you see? Her husband never recited in the past. Now he’s convinced.

Enquirer: Yes yes yes.

Master Lu: Ah, you know, you are fortunate.

Enquirer: Thank you, Master. Thank you, Guan Yin Bodhisattva.

Master Lu: Are you my disciple?

Enquirer: Yes, I am. I’m your disciple.

Master Lu: Oh, no wonder you keep calling me Master. Alright.

Enquirer: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Master.
